KRT Cabin: A Cozy, Vintage Getaway in Big Bear Lake, California

Headed to Big Bear Lake, California? Looking for accommodation? Do I have a cozy Airbnb for you. And I don’t mean cozy in the typical real estate sense, where it’s used as a flattering word to describe a small space. The cabin I’m about to share with you is very spacious, but everything about it just makes you feel…well, cozy. And very much at home.

KRT Cabin is owned by the wonderful Kristen Theodossis (@krthome on Instagram), and she has designed a perfect getaway that sleeps up to six people. Located in a peaceful neighborhood, and only a few minutes from restaurants and shops, it is the ideal place to either A) hole away and play hermit for a few days or B) use as a base for exploring the gorgeous area.

The cabin’s décor is stylish and vintage, yet very comfortable- with a neutral palette highlighted by subtle hints of pink. When you walk in, the first thing you’ll see is the living room- the heart of the cabin and the area where you’ll probably spend most of your time. A couch you’ll never want to get up from and a loveseat surround a rustic coffee table, and to the left, a beautiful fireplace will keep you nice and toasty. A record player can be found in the corner (“A Star is Born” anyone?!) and there’s also a small desk if you must work. The room is very open and airy- just look up and you’ll find a ceiling that extends to the roof, and the railing of a lofted bedroom.

Also on the first floor you’ll find a full bathroom and a very charming kitchen. Cooking essentials are all there, and if the weather is on your side, there is a door that leads to an outdoor patio decorated with string lights. Oh, and there’s a trampoline out there too if you feel like working off your dinner.

Back inside, you’ll find the cabin’s two bedrooms on the second floor. The bedroom on the right sleeps four, and is furnished with a double bed and two singles.  The bedroom on the left is the aforementioned lofted bedroom, decorated beautifully with floral wallpaper and furnished with a queen bed and a swing chair.
